Joy and Hunter’s engagement celebration at Blair Hill Inn in Greenville, Maine was such a fun way to celebrate the beginning of this next chapter for the two of them.

Set against a beautiful fall backdrop, the afternoon started with cocktails and plenty of time for guests to mingle. As everyone arrived, they were welcomed by a bagpiper, which was such a fun nod to the groom's Scottish heritage and set the tone for the celebration right away.

One of my favorite parts of the day was the Scottish handfasting ceremony. If you’ve never seen one before, it’s a beautiful tradition that symbolizes two people joining their lives together. It was a really meaningful addition to the celebration and a fun surprise for many of the guests who hadn’t experienced the tradition before.

After the ceremony, everyone made their way into the Carriage Barn for dinner. Guests enjoyed a buffet featuring local and seasonal dishes, followed by one of my favorite parts of any fall celebration: apple tart for dessert.

There was something really special about the whole afternoon. It wasn’t overly formal or complicated, it was simply a beautiful gathering of the people who mean the most to Joy and Hunter, with plenty of good food, laughter, and meaningful moments along the way.

Engagement celebrations don’t have to look one particular way. Joy and Hunter’s was a perfect example of how you can incorporate your heritage, your personalities, and the things you love into a celebration that feels completely personal to you.

And now, the really exciting part: they get to start planning the wedding!
